How To Apply

The Graduate School of TESOL accepts applications from prospective students throughout the year. Before you start on your application, consider which department is appropriate for you. The Department of ELT curriculum provides a general yet thorough education in many subjects related to TESOL. The Department of ELT Contents Development curriculum covers many of the same subjects, but also specifically focuses on the integration of multimedia and content development.

The GS TESOL has one intake of students per year. To be considered for acceptance for the beginning of the academic school year (start March 2), complete applications need to be received no later than November 4.(For the latest information, please check the NEWS section first.) Applying is a two-step process. Applicants are first required to mail their completed application documents to the Graduate School of TESOL. Applicants who complete this first step will then be required to come in for a formal interview at a later date.

    1. Send in your application

    Your application must include the following documents: (i) application and application fee, (ii) photograph of yourself, (iii) transcripts from all past post-secondary study, (iv) English proficiency exam scores, and (v) Statement of Interest. Once all documentation is ready to be submitted, please send directly to the following address:

    Application Committee
    Graduate School of TESOL
    Hankuk University of Foreign Studies
    270 Imun-dong, Dongdaemun-gu
    Seoul, Korea 130-791

2. Come in for an interview

Once we have received your application, an interview schedule will be constructed. The purpose of the interview is for GS TESOL faculty to check and clarify any confusing issues within the prospective student's application. This is also an excellent opportunity for faculty and prospective students to discuss the GS TESOL program in greater detail. The following topics should serve as guidelines:

* academic history and credentials
* teaching or work experience
* knowledge of English
* interest in TESOL
* future goals and ambitions
